Type locality: Mendoza, Argentina. Type deposition: National Museum of Natural History, Washington.
Diagnosis
Adult
The male head, thorax and forewings are much darker than the males of other species of Cactoblastis. The male forewing has few white scales, and pale scales are more ocherous, although the female has more whitish scales. The hindwing is brownish fuscous in both sexes. The male genitalia has arms of anellus somewhat shorter than those of cactourm, doddi, and mundelli. The female genitalia has a corpus bursae very minutely and sparsely scobinate.
