Taxonomic Synonymy

Type species: Cactobrosis leuconips Dyar, 1925. Original designation.

Diagnostic Characters
Adult
Eremberga can be distinguished by the following combination of characters: 1) antenna slightly serrate, without sinus or scale-like sensilla, 2) maxillary palpus fan-shaped, 3) forewing M2 and M3 with a common stem, fused for more than half their length, 4) hind wing M2+3 and CuA1 fused basally sharing a common stem, 5) forewing grey with strong black stripes, most notably along the base of the posterior vein of the discal cell (Heinrich 1939; Neunzig 1997; Simonsen 2008).

Larva
According to Heinrich (1939) and Mann (1969) the larvae are white with dark spots.

Larval Hosts
The larvae feed in Echinocerus. (Heinrich 1939; Mann 1969; Neunzig 1997).

Life History
Eggs are laid singly, and larvae are solitary or semi-gregarious feeders (Heinrich 1939; Mann 1969).

Distribution
Eremberga occurs in southwestern USA, central and possibly northwestern Mexico (Heinrich 1939, 1956; Mann 1969, Neunzig 1997).
