Wing Venation Slides - Gelechioidea
The right forewing and hindwing are removed with forceps, placed into 100% ethyl alcohol for a few seconds and transferred to eosin for staining overnight. After staining, the wings are transferred to 20% ethyl alcohol in a watch glass for removal of scales with a camel’s hair brush. The wings then are dehydrated in increasing concentrations of ethyl alcohol and positioned under chips of glass slides in 100% ethyl alcohol for a few hours before mounting on a slide in euparol.
